This retreat will shine upon our deeply tucked heart voice, and access the hidden powers of our subconsciousness. Instead of relying on the mind to create the story of the life we want to lead, we'll learn to grow from a basis of acceptance and use our emotional and heart energy so that it becomes integrated in neural structure.

We will learn to open our hearts to the possibilities, love, spaciousness and compassion that exists inside ourselves, while taking care of stuck feelings in our body and stories in our heads. We will journey into healing relationships with ourselves and others so that we can transform pains into gifts, and finally start moving with our hands and feet to possibilities we may have never imagined possible before.

Heart-, (self-)compassion-, and positive neuro-plasticity meditation practices form the core of the program and complement mindfulness-based MBCT-MBSR* meditation. A broader context is provided to learn the workings of mind-body-brain-heart linkages. In the morning there is iyengar yoga to wake up energetically and in the afternoon you can follow a yin yoga class to stretch your body and enter a deep relaxation mode or take a therapeutic massage.

These practices have been showing psychological and neurological benefits, activating brain parts linked to focus, awareness, creativity, positive feelings, cognitive flexibility, and empathy & compassion for yourself and others (see science section on ).



We will be staying in the midst of Portugal's most beautiful nature, within the Natural Reservation Park of Costa Vicentina, and 10 mins drive from Portugal's wild scenic coast lines. It has everything you need: garden surrounded by 75 hectare of nature to make beautiful walks, a bio-pool to refresh afterwards, a massage hut in the middle of nature, and a meditation-, yoga- and relaxing hall. On top of that, you'll be served amazingly fresh and healthy biological food. And in the surroundings you can even go surfing, or horse riding, walk parts of the 'Rota Sao Vicentina' trail along the coast, or just stay on the retreat spot to enjoy a lovely masage, read a good book and take a well-deserved rest.

We focus on the brain, mind, body, and heart and the linkages between. We believe in the power of bringing neuroscience, compassion practices and the linkage between Eastern and Western psychology into the picture for a holistic understanding. We start from experience rather than theoretical and mental constructs.

♡ WHO IS FACILITATING?

I'm Geraldine and I believe that each of us is its own best teacher, but can use guidance in making the mind fit for its purpose.

After years of own practice, I followed a 2 year intensive teacher-training course from the Institute of Mindfulness in Belgium. Was thaught by David Dewulf, Mark Williams - designer of the MBCT program - University of Oxford (UK), Christina Feldman & John Peacock - Insight Meditation Society (US), Kristin Neff - Center for Mindful Self-Compassion (US) and Chris Germer - Harvard Medical School (US) as well as Monks in various monasteries across Europe and Asia, among others.

In Belgium I am facilitating workshops and trainings for public, and organizations, of which previously: Colruyt, Rogers Corporation, Odissee University of Brussels, Louis Vitton, Thomas More, CM, OCMW, Manager Magazine.

A Lotus Seed is also a community of health care professionals, top-notch yoga teachers as well as holistic massage therapists.
